COVID-19 OUTBREAK UPDATE – 13.07.2020

With the increase in COVID-19 cases in South Africa and the recent surge within Gauteng, the government has issued more stringent regulations in terms of amendments to the Regulations issued in terms of section 27(2) of the Disaster Management Act, 2002 applicable to Alert Level 3 (“Regulations”). Kindly be advised that due to this most recent presidential address and the new regulations to be enforced, that leisure travel is not permitted under level 3 regulations. Please understand that in the best interest and safety of our guests, as well as our staff, and to ensure we abide by the South African lockdown laws, we have had no choice but to suspend the occupation of VRS Managed Resorts for intra-provincial leisure travel purposes. We have also been advised that government may look to re-engage with the tourism industry about the possibility of opening accommodation facilities again for intra-provincial leisure purposes. We hope and trust that this will happen within the next month. We thank you for your ongoing support and will provide an update as soon as further information becomes available.

TBCSA PROTOCOLS

The South African Tourism Industry has devised a comprehensive list of protocols for the successful operation of businesses in the travel and tourism industry. The protocols align with guidelines stipulated by the WHO, NICD and DoH and will be revisited as required on an on-going basis. They address customer information, PPE, physical distancing, and extensive sanitisation and hygiene practices, for staff and customer, alike.

We have made it our mission to ensure that every guest is made to feel safe and well taken care of at your home-away-from-home. We are more than confident with the execution and implementation of these guidelines as we ready ourselves for the easing of lockdown regulations in South Africa. Please peruse the Protocols here, for the cautious and successful integration of tourism, back into the Country.

COVID-19 OUTBREAK UPDATE – 18.06.2020

On the eve of Wednesday, 17 June 2020, the nation was addressed on further developments concerning South Africa’s risk-adjusted strategy in the fight against the spread of COVID-19. In the presidential address, President Cyril Ramaphosa stated - after further discussions with industry representatives on stringent prevention protocols, consultation with Premiers and advice from scientists - the Cabinet has decided to ease alert level 3’s restrictions on certain other economic activities. This, amongst other things, includes accredited and licensed accommodation - which will soon be in effect. As we wait for further announcements with respect to the specifics regarding the stringent safety requirements that have been agreed on, know that your Club Resorts have already taken all the necessary measures to ensure your health and safety upon your return.

We are thrilled by the news that leisure travel will soon, once again, be one of the boxes you can tick off on your agenda. Please do know that our Club Resorts teams are working assiduously in these coming days to ensure everything is perfect for you and your family, to once more, have an enjoyable holiday. We hope to have further details to share soon with regard to the provincial travel restrictions being lifted in order to make a more detailed announcement of our Club Resorts reopening. We thank you for your patience and look forward to welcoming you in the coming days and weeks back to your Club Resorts.

NO RESORT OCCUPATION DURING LOCKDOWN – 25.05.2020

Last night, on the 24th of May 2020, President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the South African people with plans to slowly reopen the economy by phasing into level 3 of the 5 level risk-adjusted strategy from the 01st of June 2020. While this is a step in the right direction to return to normal operations, kindly note that, as part of the tourism and hospitality sector, our Club Resorts will remain closed to the public. South African Tourism Minister, Nkhensani Kubayi-Ngubane, has informed the sector that lodging and accommodation must remain closed, under government regulation, until the phasing in of level 1.

The Club and VRS remain committed to providing a safe and secure environment for members and guests to return to and will continue to monitor the on-going communications to reopen the tourism sector sooner.

We thank you for your support and patience as we navigate these trying times.

NO RESORT OCCUPATION DURING LOCKDOWN – 01.05.2020

In accordance with the presidential address on the 23rd of April 2020, all Club Resorts will be adhering to the nationwide lockdown and will remain closed to the public, until it is deemed safe and appropriate to return to normal operations. As per the 5-level-risk-adjusted strategy imposed by the South African government, the tourism industry, as informed by Minister Nkhensani Kubayi-Ngubane, will only be allowed to reopen at Level 1. This will mean that the Club Resorts will, at this stage, be allowed to welcome check-ins after the lockdown has been lifted.

LPA and our managing agent VRS are working diligently in this time to prepare the Resorts for reopening, implementing viable management solutions for the safety of all our guests. We humbly ask for your patience in regards to service levels as we navigate this challenging time together.

UPDATE: VRS OFFICES SHUTDOWN AND SERVICES DURING LOCKDOWN - 14.04.2020

In line with the Presidential address on 09 April 2020, we will strictly be adhering to the enforcement of the lockdown. Government has ordered South Africans to stay at home except for essential purposes and has ordered all non-essential services to suspend operations up until further notice. This will mean that our staff will be able to offer limited service levels from home and our call centres and correspondence departments will be partially open to assist you over the lockdown period.
We however humbly ask for your patience in regards to our service levels as we navigate this challenging time together. Should our call centres be strained and are unable to timeously reach us telephonically, please feel free to send us an email on enquiries@leisureportfolio.co.za so that we can attend to you.
We would like to thank you for your understanding and continued support as we look forward to seeing you on holiday soon.
